How to sell an RV????

Hello all. We are interested in selling our TT.
Can anyone offer any advice on what the best course of action would be for selling it? This is the first time we've ever had to sell something like this, so we're a little overwhelmed as to where to start!

RE: Breakway Switch (cable)

Just wanted to give an update on the problem since i haven't already... i called our dealership and talked to their tech. he recommended cutting each chain and extending them using quick links. So i went to Lowe's and got some Reese quick links (rated @ 5000# each), then came home and did exactly what he said to do. The breakaway cable was still plenty long enough. what a simple fix for a problem that i apparently blew WAY out of proportion!!
Thanks for the help.

RE: Breakway Switch (cable)

Gunpilot: I am going from a Toyota 4Runner to a Toyota Tundra. I've measured everything, and the only difference is that the hooks beside the receiver on the Tundra are about 3" further back than the hooks on the 4Runner.
Chadsalt: That sounds like a good idea, and thanks for the specifics on the type of chain I'd need... But what about the breakaway cable? How do I go about lengthening it? can it be replaced without replacing the entire switch?

RE: Breakway Switch (cable)

I will check for two holes in the receiver tomorrow first thing. That would be a wonderful oversight to have made! I also like the idea of just extending the chains... and following that logic, i suppose I could just extend the breakaway switch cable in the same manner... would this be an incorrect assumption to make?

RE: Breakway Switch (cable)

Well, i thought of that, but the chain appears to have been made to that length. It has hooks (with safety pins) attached to each end. By attached I mean it's a S-hook, but the end that is attached to the chain is almost completely closed. I would have to try and bend the hook open to add more links to that chain, and I'm afraid that if I was able to do this, then I may comrpomise the strength of the hook.
Is this a common occurrence when changing TV's???

Breakway Switch (cable)

Hi all. We recently upgraded our TV. Went out today to hook up for the first time and realized that my safety chains were now TOO SHORT! I see that what I thought was two chains is actually one chain, with hooks on each end, that is bolted to the underside of the TT's tongue.
Everything else hooked up fine, but my question is:
Can the chain be replaced (by me), and if so, I have read that each length of chain needs to be able to hold the weight of the TT (ours is 4250# dry). Where can you buy these chains? I measured the existing chain, and it looks like around 56" total.
ALSO:
How do i lengthen (or replace, if needed) the breakaway switch cable once I've installed longer safety chains?
This stuff seems pretty overwhelming sometimes! Thanks in advance for any help!

RE: Adjustable Ball Mount?

Yeah, sounds like this may be a job for someone a little more qualified than me. I'm not what you'd call mechanically inclined :?.... Thanks for the help!

Adjustable Ball Mount?

We own an '08 Jayco Jay Feather EXP213 (came with EaZ Lift WD Hitch & Sway Control, dealer installed), and until recently had towed with an '08 Toyota 4Runner Limited. We recently purchased an '05 Toyota Tundra (4.7L V8):B. My question is: What, if anything, is necessary to change on the WD Hitch (has adjustable ball mount), to have it correctly set up for towing with the Tundra. How would I know if anything at all needs to be changed :h? Planning a long trip very soon, so any good info will be GREATLY appreciated!!

RE: preparing TT for possible hurricane

We live south of Brandon, Ms (about an hour or so from Hattiesburg), and our power was out for a week after Katrina. We're also preparing to live in the trailer next week, if necessary (we bought a geerator yesterday). Obviously we won't have the same winds you will have there, so I'm not that concerned about stabilizing other than the jacks being down. IF you were bent on staying put and riding it out at home, my biggest concern other than stabilizing would be your fuel. 5 days doesn't seem like enough, given how close you'll be the the storm (if it stays on course). I'd buy more, if possible... if it's too much, then just use it in your truck, I'm sure it stays thirsty!!

RE: Jayco makes a "quality trailer"?

Well, we purchased a new Jayco TT a couple of months back, and have had no problems. Every product built by every company on the planet is subject to some knucklehead in a factory screwing up the assembly. That doesn't mean it's an inferior product. I can relate though, if my son had purchased a big ticket item like a "coach" (it'll be a while though... he's only 20 months old!!) then I think I'd be pretty ticked if it were obviously one of the ones that the knucklehead obviously had a hand in assembling. The feeling that your children may have been wronged in some way will make any parent VERY angry! So, good thing Jayco is standing behind it, I wouldn't expect anything less, and also good for the kids for making a big decision like buying a TT ON THEIR OWN! It's hard to learn lessons when someone's looking over your shoulder.

RE: Ea-Z-Lift problem

Well, I looked and looked, and finally found something which to me seems like a wonderful replacement. Since the holes in the brackets are quite small as JeeperAz pointed out, I was pretty limited. I found a 2 1/2" wire lock pin (1/4" post) at www.Fastenal.com. I bought 3, just in case. They fit very tightly in the holes, and the wire lock ensures that they don't come out till I want 'em to! They were cheap too, I think I paid less that $7.00 for 3 of them.

Ea-Z-Lift problem

We recently purchased a Jayco 213 TT, and have a dealer-installed EaZLift WD hitch and sway control setup. The problem is, while we were coming home last Sunday we apparently lost on of the clips that secure the chains attached to our spring bars! It's a gold-colored, small "C" shaped clip/pin, about 1/4" in diameter that is used to secure the stirrup-like bracket in the up position (thus applying tension to the spring bars). My question is, since this litle thing seems VERY important, yet apparently is inadequate, is there something better to use in place of these little clips/pins? I've looked online and found locking clips for couplers, etc. that would seem to work, but we're newbies so we're unsure what would be appropriate. Has anyone else had this problem? Any info would be GREATLY appreciated!

RE: I'm new here and I jumped in feet first

We're from MS, and also went headlong into Rving, mainly because we got tired of spending SOOOOO much money renting cabins and houses on vacations! I would have to agree with the others, go ahead and get a membership to Camping World, so you can at least save 10% on the hundreds of dollars (at least) that you're going to spend in the very near future:E! We also bought a Jayco, and love it.

RE: Eatin' around Gulf Shores

Also try King Neptune's on Hwy 59, before you get the beach. Island Pancake House on Hwy 180 (parallel to the beach) has good breakfasts. I've also heard that Hazel's Nook (also on Hwy 59) has good breakfasts, but we haven't tried it yet. And wholeheartedly LULU's! The atmosphere is worth the wait (there will definitely be one!).

CHANGING TV - QUESTIONS!!

Hello all! Since our last post we've learned a lot about our TT. :C However, we also learned that DH's truck (2004 Toyota Tacoma PreRunner, 3.0L V6, 2WD) can't pull it! :S DW has an 2008 Toyota 4Runner Limited (4.0L V-6, 2WD), which has a towing capacity of 5300lbs. Our TT is 4250 lbs dry weight, and about 5200 lbs GWVR. DH is planning on trading the Tacoma for a newer, bigger truck (which will most likely be a 5.4L Ford F150). :B
The question is (finally): Since the hitch is obviously going to be much higher on the new TV than it is on the 4Runner (which was the vehicle the dealer set everything up for), what mods (if any) will need to be made to our setup to accomodate the bigger & higher TV? :h
Any help will be greatly appreciated!!
